WHAT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?!?!

There are many spirits influencing the coaching space. It's a very spiritual space which I quite like because it represents people who are searching for what really matters.

But there is only one pure and HOLY spirit.

So - What is the Holy Spirit (ruach ha-kodesh in Hebrew) ?

🌹The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God.

🌹It is the same spirit that breathed upon the waters in the book of Genesis and created the earth.

🌹It is the Spirit that raised Jesus' body from the dead.

🌹It is the same Spirit that fills up your heart when you receive salvation (when you put all your trust and faith in Jesus and His Sacrifice on the cross and you give your life to Him). When this happens, the Spirit makes your body alive.

The Holy Spirit is described by Jesus as a Comforter.

After Jesus appeared to the disciples in his Risen body, He told them He was going to up to heaven to the Father to prepare a place for them.

They were sad that He was leaving, but He explained to them that He would not leave them comfortless. But that we would actually be given a comforter - the Holy Spirit.

He also explained that the Holy Spirit would lead and guide into all TRUTH. and that the Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus. That means that to know whether a Spirit is from the true God, the way we test the Spirit is to ask whether or not the Spirit testifies that Jesus is Lord and that He was crucified for our sins and raised.

On the Spirit leading us into all truth - Jesus Himself said he was the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. So, the Holy Spirit gives us the power to discern truth along with the Word of God.

When the Spirit comes into our lives, it washes and opens our spiritual eyes and we become aware of the sinful nature we all possess.

We also become aware of a desire to be clean and pure. This purity does not come from ourselves. It is a gift given to us by Jesus Christ. the Holy Spirit cleans our hearts, washes away sin and makes us pure.

The Apostle Paul described it as treasure (the Spirit) in jars of clay (imperfect human bodies).

What the Holy Spirit Gives Us

🕊The Holy Spirit also empowers us to be witnesses for Jesus. When we receive it there is a confidence and boldness that enters into the heart to proclaim the truth of God. It also gives us a love for God and others.

🕊The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts such as healing, preaching, teaching, words of knowledge, tongues, and more.

🕊The Holy Spirit also refines our character over time - again this is not our own doing but a work of the spirit in us. This refining of character is referred to as the fruits of the Spirit.

The fruit of the Spirit outlined in the Bible are: love, joy, peace, gentleness, generosity, patience, kindness & self-control. It is beautiful because it's not something we toil and strive for, it's something that god does in us the more we draw near to Him.

Christianity being the most persecuted religion in the world - you may wonder how Christians have the courage to live for Jesus in intensely persecuted areas where they can be killed for just having a Bible... they are empowered to that by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit also gives us power over sin - this process is called sanctification where our sinful heart becomes more refined over time through the work of the Spirit and we become strong in faith and overcome habitual sins and sinful ways of thinking and feeling.

👉🏾What is the Holy part?

Holy means set-apart. It is a distinct Spirit because it is the only pure, righteous, good and true spirit. We receive this Holy Spirit into our lives by grace through faith. And when we receive it, we are then called to be set apart as well for the Lord. Again - not through our own strength but by the power of the Spirit.

By grace means that it is not through anything that we do to be good. It is solely by the goodness, grace and mercy of God who lavishes His love upon us.

By Faith - means that you believe that Jesus is Lord, and that you want to live for Him.

You may have experienced someone talking about Jesus, or hearing christian music and felt a distinct very pure presence - that presence is the Holy Spirit!

Sometimes people can feel a little bit angry or aggressive when we feel the Holy Spirit and that is actually the condition of our heart coming out in the presence of a Holy God. It's like the contrast of the Holiness makes us want to lash out.

Right now - the Spirit of the Lord is pursuing many hearts and it is drawing people to Jesus just as Jesus said (remember - He said that it would testify of Him).

The Bible was written by the Spirit of God as the writers were inspired under the leading of the Spirit.

The Spirit is the breath of God. The Breath of a Faithful Creator. It is the Breath of life.

The Spirit confirms that we are children of God.

The Spirit helps us in our weakness.

The Spirit also empowers us to create and can empower us with skills, wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, building capabilities and so much more.

When Jesus gave His Disciples after His the Spirit he breathed on them and said: "Receive the Holy Spirit"

Would you like Jesus to breathe on you with the Holy Spirit?

Ask Him to and He Will!
