Oxford Languages Defines worship as:
The feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.
"the worship of God"
Interestingly, Dr Stephen Porges, founder of Polyvagal Theory has discussed the importance of cultivating a sense of “awe” as part of restoring the health of the nervous system.
As believers, the ultimate source of awe is God Himself. The Bible will often describe this as the “fear of the Lord”
When we worship God, there is a change in the spirit and the body.
In the presence of the Lord a natural surrender occurs in which we may weep, tremble, or move in ways that we do not normally do. Not just the spirit, but the physical body surrenders/yields to the Lord.
Worship is the expression of the awe of God.
When we worship, we are brought into the presence of the Lord.
Here we are in the presence of perfection and purity. We are in the presence of all that is good and true.
This presence is healing &...
What is Life Energy?
Cultures all over the world have identified a mysterious, spontaneous force that is sometimes called “divine”. They will call this Chi, Prana, Mana, Vital Energy or Life Force - among other names. I have even seen this called the Kundalini.
The idea in the New Age and alternative healing spaces is that this force can be channeled or used to bring healing and that this force is present in human bodies and that aligning with this force of life can bring healing to the body. And this idea of a force of life present in all things also is closely related to the divine being in and part of all things including humans.
In the somatic healing world, the concept of life energy represents the personal power/vitality of a person and the energy of life that is in the world/universe, patterns of nature and the spontaneous force of healing and life in all things and beings.
This is in...
I know the feeling - being faced with the Truth and feeling like everything underneath you and within you is shaking and quaking
To know within the depths of your being that Jesus is real and not just real - He is true and really the ONLY thing that is real.
To question whether people in your life will leave you if you are bold in your faith and then testing the waters and finding that yes in fact they will leave you.
The existential wrestling with the Truth of Scripture
The heartbreaking encounters with God that show you your need for Him - and that where you placed all your attention, focus and identity was the wrong place and now ALL you want is more of God.
To recognize the places in your heart that were hard and brittle - hyper-independent and filled with foolish pride and self-sufficiency and weep as the Lord washes you and softens your heart
To feel the healing...
When I began selling the Faithful Institute last month, I had my own plans for the Institute.
The Holy Spirit has convicted me since I began selling it around Somatic Experiencing which was my primary mode of training. Click here to read the story of how I left that behind a few weeks ago after the Lord showed me some things about the Founder of SE.
I have had to repent to the Lord around this .
Another thing I felt led to do before I shared the story of leaving Somatic Experiencing behind, was to change the price from 7,500 to 3,000 and I shared that with my community as well (which ended up being confirmation for one of the students to sign up)!
And I have been feeling more and more to yield this program to the Spirit completely.
That has felt scary, and like a true leap of faith for me as God reveals the layers of my heart that I still held back.
Coming out of 5 years of running...
For the believer - trauma recovery is a mind-renewal process that involves being sanctified by God's Word and His Truth just as much as it involves learning/re-learning life skills, stress management skills and stabilizing your nervous system! In this episode I am diving into the spiritual component of the trauma recovery journey by looking at:
My hope is that this episode stirs your faith to walk in Victory as a child of God - knowing first that you belong to the Lord as you recover from the pain of trauma.

PRAYERS FOR YOUR TRAUMA HEALING JOURNEY -PART 1
One prayer I often pray is: “Father - make the crooked places straight in my heart”
I get this prayer from the metaphor often found in Scripture of “preparing the way of the Lord”
In the Old Covenant before Jesus came, Prophets would proclaim His coming and they would declare that One was coming who would make things right with humanity. Who would “level the playing field” against sin, corruption and evil.
One who would heal and restore and repair. One who would light the way both in the world and in our hearts.
I love this metaphor because it is so profoundly true in the context of trauma.
Sin & Trauma creates so much confusion, dysregulation and disruption in our hearts and minds.
As a result, we can see things from distorted lenses.
What is safe seems unsafe & what is unsafe can seem safe.
We can be reactive or easily shut-down as a result of our nervous system’s sensitivity.
Let's go back to the beginning, shall we?
In this episode, I share from the book of Genesis - The beginning of the Bible.
Since I have become a Christian, my worldview has been transformed by the power of God's word and His Holy Spirit. And this worldview change, includes how I approach the philosophical ideas and theories of trauma. What we believe about God and ourselves will impact how we approach the treatment of trauma and the experience of suffering and healing. I believe the Bible gives a coherent, powerful, and ultimately liberating reason for why we experience trauma and suffering in our world today.
Here's some of what I cover in this episode:
What is theology?
Why is theology important to trauma?
Sin and the fall
Why is there trauma in the world?
How I approach the science of somatics (body-based trauma healing)
Practical guidelines for Christians as you approach your trauma healing journey to stay grounded in God's Word and avoid being led...
